The Colony 2015 Half Marathon Cancelled

Dr. Len Lopez – Monday, October 26, 2015

Hey guys, I’m sorry to have to tell you that due to all the rain we had in the greater Dallas area this past weekend, The Colony Half Marathon was cancelled.

I like a lot of others were bummed, and will have to wait another year to run this race.  I think the race would have gone on, but more than 50 percent of the run is around the lake Lewisville and have heard that many spots were underwater or covered in mud.

One of the reasons I like this race and wanted to do it again, is because 50% of the race is on a trail, instead of concrete or asphalt.  This is important for a guy like me who doesn’t run a lot on concrete and doesn’t want to over-abuse my joints and knees by running 13.1 miles on asphalt.

I’m only kind of glad the race didn’t happen, so as to finally give this heel pain that started 6 weeks ago to subside.  I’ll look forward to next year.  I’ll keep training my way and hope to see if I can run a half marathon by not running or training for a half marathon.
